Machines that are equipped with a tool eye, usually have the unit mounted on operator side of the chuck which results in limitations of use.

GIS designs, builds and installs tool setting units which are mounted on the rear side of the spindle which allows the tool setter to be used  without the need to remove the part from the chuck or retract the tailstock before the tool eye can be advanced.

This feature is extremely important for automation where in-cycle measuring of tools is required.

The unit is mounted directly to the headstock casting for stability and is retracted out of the work envelope when not in use.

A macro suite is provided which allows for automatic re-calibration of the probe stylus as well as measurement routines for all common tool types.
